「直心是道場 」

 
地方から世界へ
和のコンテンポラリ−は香川県（ローカル）からダイレクトに世界（グローバル）に発信できる香川県若手芸術家の育成・支援と子ども造形芸術活動などの文化芸術交流活動を目的に、2013年より、国際展、ワークショップ等を開催して参りました。2016年にはイギリスにおいて初の海外展を開催しました。
 
子どもたちと次世代の芸術家の育成・支援
2021年度は「子ども家族のプログラム」をオンラインで世界の子供たちと開催致しました。次年度には、「第8回和のコンテンポラリ−2023展」として、出品者の中から国内海外学生各1名ずつ、2名を選出し、ホワイトキューブ高松つくもギャラリーにて展覧会を開催する支援をします。この展覧会は、将来世界的に活躍できる次世代の芸術家の育成と支援を目的とし、学術的な意義を持つと共に、異なる文化背景を持つ学生が作品を並べ、ともに活動することで、互いの制作姿勢への刺激となることを目指します。
 
悠久の時と多様な内面的宇宙が融合
第7回目となる今回も、悠久の時と多様な内面的宇宙が融合する空間、披雲閣にて国際展（日本、イングランド、スコットランド、ポーランド、アメリカ、スロベニア等の作家による）を開催します。早春の息吹が感じられる季節に、多様な価値観と世代が集結することで新たな創造を目指します。今年のテーマは「直心是道場」です。心のありようで天地到るところが道場となるという教えで、近年の閉ざされがちな時代であっても作家が素直な心で精進修行し、芸術と向き合うことを目標としています。また、茶礼になぞらえて会場を構成し、非日常の世界を演出します。
 
夏の日の、「直心是道場」
和のコンテンポラリ−は、私たち日本人としてのアイデンティティを象徴する「和」を、香川から世界に発信し、私たちの地元である香川県の文化芸術の発展につなげてまいります。わたしたち人類に突きつけられている警告に挑戦する日々の中、悲しみと喜びを共感し、希望を感じていただけますことを願っております。
 

The Straightforward mind is the Dojo

 
This is an international exhibition of artists from the UK, Poland, the USA, Slovenia as well as Japan, and the 7th event of the Wa no Contemporary. It takes place again at Hiunkaku in Takamatsu Castle, where eternity and diverse inner universes meet. Feeling a breath of spring in the air, our aim is to explore the possibility of a new creation together with the artists from different generations with diverse senses of value.
 
The theme of this exhibition is Jikishin kore Dojo; ‘Straightforward mind is the Dojo’. This wisdom of Zen teaches everywhere and anywhere in universe can be your dojo, as long as one can devote themselves to training with Jikishin. Even in the recent inward-looking tendency, we artists have to keep practicing by facing sincerely to our own art. Also, the whole exhibition is arranged following the procession of a tea ceremony, the act of a ritual preparing and serving tea for guests, that produces an other-worldly space.
 
We hope that the visitors of the exhibition will feel hopeful and enjoy the coming of summer, despite the challenges the mankind has been forced to confront against.
